Early this year, the Volkswagen Mobility Challenge 2.0 was open to entrepreneurs from both KSA and UAE and the finalist pool doubled to 20 participants – Instead of one bootcamp, finalists got 4 workshops throughout January 2020 to help their ideas shine – whether they made it to the final pitch or not! Stay tuned for what’s coming up in Fall 2020!
So what puts the 2.0 in our title? How about twice the locations….this year we’re opening it up to entrepreneurs from both KSA and UAE. We’re also doubling our finalist pool to 20 participants – that’s twice the chance to make it through! Instead of one bootcamp, we’re giving our finalists 4 workshops throughout January to help their ideas shine – whether you make it to the final pitch or not!
Volkswagen Mobility Challenge 2.0 finalists received guidance and mentorship from some of the greatest minds in the industry and the chance to pitch their ideas directly to Volkswagen at the biggest entrepreneurial event in the UAE – STEP Conference 2020! The lucky winners won a trip to Germany where they met the sharpest minds in urban mobility and some tools needed to tackle the startup world. Volkswagen and Dtec came together to provide a Volkswagen car, hot desking facilities, and a shiny new business license all for one whole year! UAE Residents Kevin Martin and Bilal Shabandri decided to tackle the gap between overcrowded yet more affordable public transport, and private but more expensive methods. Designed to bridge the gap between price and time, “Arcab” provides optimized routes in comfortable, shared premium vans. The team is currently working with the RTA (Road & Transport Authority) to integrate its services into the city and make mass transit easier for everyone – watch this space!
